I’m a freelance artist and children’s illustrator living in the beautiful lake country of Minnesota. I draw inspiration from the seasonally-changing countryside, young friends and relatives, and my extensive library of children’s books and classics. Most of my illustrations start as a pencil sketch, which I trace with ink and color with watercolors. I also create illustrations digitally, scanning my original sketch or inked illustration or tracing it onto the computer with my Wacom tablet, then adding color in Corel Painter.
I enjoy website design and have taught myself HTML and some CSS over the years. Fashion design is another interest, and in 2006 I began a line of vintage-inspired sewing patterns, available at HintofHistory.com.
